Dorit Brauer’s spiritual adventure started early with a life-shattering experience at age 15. She began asking questions: Where do we come from? Where do we go? What is our purpose?
From that moment on she knew that she couldn’t live the life that others wanted for her and was catapulted onto a search for meaning.
In her award-winning autobiography Girls Don’t Ride Motorbikes – A Spiritual Adventure Into Life’s Labyrinth she shares her very personal journey and the answers she found, as she embarks on a modern day pilgrimage, a 7,430-mile solo motorcycle adventure across the US. In her book, she recounts poetic life stories spanning her youth on a dairy farm in Germany, a 10-week solo-backpacking trip in Brazil, the turmoil of living in Tel Aviv, to her most recent chronicles in the United States.
One of the spiritual transformation power tools Dorit uses on her cross-country adventure are labyrinths. These ancient walking meditations originated in a time when body and mind were not separate. The sacred circle mends body, mind and spirit back to oneness and connects you to your true self.
Dorit’s intimate stories are woven together intricately to provide insights allowing you to reflect on your own spiritual journey.
Labyrinths are sacred circles found in every culture around the globe dating back thousands of years. The labyrinth is a spiritual transformation power tool, inviting inner peace and balance. On August 18. 2019 I had the great pleasure to create a labyrinth in the Hall of Architecture at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh.
My inspiration for the new paintings of the “Unwinding Series” is to serve as a positive catalyst by bringing light and playfulness to the viewer.
